European Studies In Asia (ESiA)
Overview
The ESiA programme provides a platform for exchange and co-operation between European studies academics in Asia and Europe through networking meetings, academic collaborations, and the use of online tools.
Our Goals
- Strengthen existing academic links in Asia.
- Facilitate the creation of new links within Asia as well as between Asia and Europe.
Programme Features
The ESiA is made up of three components:
- The EU Through The Eyes Of Asia Study: This project measures the perceptions of the EU in Asia. The pilot study covered China (including Hong Kong), Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Thailand over two years. A later phase of the study covered Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
- The Young Academics Workshop Series: This series supports next-generation European studies academics by providing a sustainable platform for networking and information exchange.
- The ESiA web site and eMonitor: The ESiA web site hosts academic materials, conference and publication announcements, and other information relevant to European studies. It is an online platform for academics, institutions, and networks. Highlights and useful information are published in eMonitor, the web site's quarterly electronic newsletter, which has an international readership of 8,000.
