This inaugural meeting brought together Academic Centres of Excellence from ASEM member countries to create a network that would enhance the flow of students between Asia and Europe. It was attended by 74 participants, including presidents of universities and eminent scholars, and it resulted in 58 universities offering more than 180 scholarships to facilitate student exchange.
