“Health and migration” is recognised as one of the priorities by the ASEF Public Health Network. The recent significant increase of population mobility between Asia and Europe needs a closer collaboration with a multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral approach, specifically with health and non-health sectors, towards migrants’ health.
Based on this, ASEF Public Health Network will organise a series of Research Exchange Workshops over 2012-2013. The first one in the series will take place in Barcelona, Spain (8-9 March 2012). This workshop “Social determinants of migrants’ health across Asia and Europe”, will be co-organised with Casa Asia, and sponsored by the Government of Japan.
Chairs for the workshop will include - Dr Manuel Carballo, Executive Director, International Centre for Migration, Health and Development, Dr Poonam Dhavan, Public Health Specialist, International Organization for Migration, and Dr Maruja M.B. Asis, Director of Research and Publications, Scalabrini Migration Center.
Outcomes of the workshop will be compiled into a report which will be disseminated to relevant stakeholders in Asia and Europe.
