The\u00a0ASEM Cultural Festival 2019,\u00a0<\/strong>as the official side-event of the\u00a014th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting<\/strong>, revives a tradition of cultural programming alongside high-level meetings of Asian and European leaders. The Asia-Europe Foundation – ASEF, as the only permanent institution of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), supports the organisation of the Festival alongside ASEM Summit Meetings of Heads of State and Governments, as well as ASEM Foreign Ministers.\u00a0<\/p>

The Festival titled\u00a0\u2018Asia and Europe: Cultures Connect\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>will be held in\u00a0Madrid, Spain<\/strong>\u00a0from 11-15 December. It\u00a0will bring together over 40 artists from more than 10 Asian and European countries<\/strong>\u00a0to showcase the artistic and cultural diversity from both regions. 6 events comprised of\u00a0music and dance performances, artistic workshops, a virtual reality exhibition and a special exhibit<\/strong>\u00a0on \u2018ASEAN Cultural Year 2019\u2019 will be showcased in different venues across the city. A curtain raiser featuring a music concert\u00a0Nguy\u00ean L\u00ea\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Saiyuki & Friends<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0will be held on 6 December in\u00a0Brussels, Belgium<\/strong>\u00a0leading up to the main Festival in Madrid.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Throughout the 5-day event, a jampacked programme composed of diverse performances will be unveiled. To open the Festival, 7 musicians will stage a\u00a0concert of world music and jazz<\/strong>\u00a0titled\u00a0Nguy\u00ean L\u00ea Saiyuki & Friends<\/strong><\/em>. A\u00a0virtual reality exhibition<\/strong>\u00a0comprising\u00a0installations inviting audience interaction with vibrant animations of classic artworks<\/strong>\u00a0will also be opened to the public on the first day. \u00a0<\/p>

Kizuna<\/strong><\/em>, a\u00a0string concert<\/strong>\u00a0featuring Japanese and Spanish influences, will be performed on day 2. The third day will feature a\u00a0workshop<\/strong>\u00a0with artist Fuyuki Enokido and an act titled\u00a0Rasa y Duende: Lorca, Flamenco y la India<\/em><\/strong>, which will explore the rich history of\u00a0Spanish flamenco singing and dancing<\/strong>\u00a0through a dialogue between various Indian performance traditions. For day 4, 14 artists will perform\u00a0Poong Ryu<\/em><\/strong>, a\u00a0Korean music and dance<\/strong>\u00a0show, following a dance workshop from Between Tiny Cities. \u00a0<\/p>

Finally, on the last day,\u00a0Rudraksham<\/em><\/strong>, a concert by a\u00a0classical Indian Carnatic and Hindustani music<\/strong>\u00a0group with percussion and string instruments will take place after a workshop with their musicians. The Festival will close with a\u00a0hip-hop dance performance<\/strong>\u00a0Between Tiny Cities \u179a\u179c\u17b6\u1784\u1791\u17b8\u1780\u17d2\u179a\u17bb\u1784\u178f\u17bc\u1785<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0featuring dancers from Australia and Cambodia. Over the course of the Festival, a special exhibit about the cultural diversity from the countries of ASEAN will be displayed as well.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
