\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tVECTOR<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 is an annual exhibition of\u00a0contemporary performance and time-based art<\/strong>. In each edition, artefacts in different mediums are presented alongside a programme of live performances. The presented works in\u00a0VECTOR#5: Psychogeographies\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0can be described as\u00a0psychological speculations on the effects of geography and the environment on the human psyche<\/strong>.\n

Conceptualised and presented by\u00a0Dance Nucleus<\/a>, this multidisciplinary exhibition will showcase several artistic events that feature artists from Asia and Europe, including Pietro Marullo (Italy), Ashley Ho (Singapore), Domenik Naue (Germany), Pat Toh (Singapore), Jenni Large (Australia), Rick Kanagawa (Japan) and Yuko Takeda (Japan). Aside from presenting excerpts of their performances, the artists will also engage with the audience through\u00a0dialogue sessions and workshops<\/strong>\u00a0throughout the 2-day exhibition.<\/p>\nUnder the framework of the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and Dance Nucleus support and present the following events:\n\n1.\u00a0Trilogy of the Species<\/em>\u00a0 by Pietro Marullo<\/strong>\n\nArising from deep\u00a0introspection and reflections on the world<\/strong>\u00a0we live in, Pietro has translated his research and intentions into various creative productions over the years.\u00a0Trilogy of the Species \u00a0<\/em>is a video installation featuring Pietro’s notable works, namely:\u00a0WRECK – List of Extinct Species (2017), HIVE \u2013 our hydrological need of cosmic lines (2019) \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and\u00a0HERMANDAD (2022)<\/strong><\/em>.\n\nCharacterised by\u00a0interdisciplinary performances blending dance, sound and visual arts<\/strong>, these works seek to investigate the empowerment inside the triangle\u00a0\u2018the Other\u2019 – \u2018the ritual\u2019 – \u2018the world\u2019<\/strong>.\u00a0WRECK<\/em>\u00a0 highlights the concept of transforming our relationship to the world, awakening our Higher Self to a deeper purpose;\u00a0HIVE \u00a0<\/em>represents the Holy Family in an anthropological manner rather than its religious connotation, connecting the idea of family and its origin to the Earth; and\u00a0HERMANDAD<\/em>\u00a0 focuses on the healing power of diving into a community, creating an aesthetic experience around brotherhood and sisterhood. In these performances, common themes of how people relate with themselves, with others within or outside their groups, and with the world constantly resonate.\n\nThese visionary works came to life thanks to Pietro\u2019s artistic exposures through international tours, dialogues with anthropologists and shamans, and collaboration with other artists around the world.\n\nAs part of the Festival, an outdoor performance of\u00a0WRECK<\/em>\u00a0 will be presented on 28-29 September at Singtel Waterfront Theatre Lawn, Esplanade. 2.\u00a0Last Portrait<\/em>\u00a0 by ashleyho+domeniknaue<\/span><\/p>

In a new performance-installation, Ashley Ho (Singapore) and Domenik Naue (Germany) will weave together text, sound, dance and visual poetry in\u00a0Last Portrait<\/em>, \u00a0evoking feelings of loss, grief and distance<\/span>. This iteration of their work in collaboration with Pietro Marullo connects viewers through the memories emanating from personal family items gathered throughout the years. It takes us to a space where relics of the artists’ performances rest, presented alongside snippets of their contemporary dance. 3.\u00a0Psychogeographies: The Roses Night Experience<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with Pietro Marullo<\/strong><\/p>

An artist dialogue and workshop,\u00a0Psychogeographies: The Roses Night Experience \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is an experiment. It is an invitation to\u00a0gather together with nature, to connect on a deeper level<\/strong>, crossing and surrendering to the experience of the night. We gather together because we want to call our deep intuition, feeling and reflection on what we have to do next as artists, as an artistic community. What is still relevant for art as a mission?\u00a0<\/p>

In many cultures, roses play an important role. In Latin America, roses symbolise feminine and masculine lineages. Accordingly, in order to\u00a0approach the future with openness<\/strong>, we need to be reconciled our personal, familial, and collective lineages.<\/p>

The experience will begin with music, dance and setting intentions for the night. We then take turns to sleep and take care of each other\u2019s dreams. In the morning, we will\u00a0share reflections on our experience<\/strong>\u00a0of the night, and a closing ceremony where we will offer our roses to the waters. \u00a0<\/p>

The workshop is intended for artists but is also open to non-artists who wish to participate. It is free-of-charge, and camping equipment and light refreshments will be provided.
