Awards

The Asia-Europe Short Films Contest awards are not differentiated by categories, so as to provide maximum opportunity for filmmakers to express their views and creativity on the main topic under any specific format, such as animation, documentary, fiction, etc.

There are a total of five awards to be delivered at the end of the contest: four to be awarded by an international jury, and one based on online public voting.

AWARDS DESCRIPTION:

An international panel of judges will select the winning short films based on creativity, storyline, and a meaningful connection to the main theme of the contest. Specialised technical skills and equipment are not key factors, as the aim is to identify up and coming film-makers who can benefit of the award to develop their careers.

Prize:

- A two-day hands-on international filmmaking workshop at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore.
- A return airticket to Singapore and three days accommodation to attend the Award Ceremony, and to take part of the above mentioned film-making workshop.
- SGD 5,000 to the short that best express or communicates the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) values.

The ten most voted short films (with the most number of “likes”) on the Shorts Gallery will be displayed on ASEF’s Facebook page for a final round of votes. The video with the highest number of Facebook likes will receive the public award.

Prize:

- A two-day hands-on international filmmaking workshop at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore.
- A return airticket to Singapore and three days accommodation to attend the Award Ceremony, and to take part of the above mentioned film-making workshop.

The short films which unfortunately won’t be recognized by jury and public will be screened at the relevant public events and project of the Asia-Europe Foundation in Asian and European countries. All submissions will be displayed on the ASEF website. The winners will be personally contacted in the second half of April 2012.

Only the submitted short films that accomplish the rules of the contest will be eligible for an award.
