Are you a secondary, high or vocation school teacher/trainee teacher and looking for a platform to collaborate and work with peers in Asia and Europe?  Then this opportunity is for you!

We are pleased to announce the Open Call for the 16th ASEF Classroom Network (#ASEFClassNet16) School Collaboration (Stage 1- Virtual Capacity Building)!

What is ASEFClassNet16 School Collaboration?

The 16th ASEF Classroom Network (#ASEFClassNet16) School Collaboration  a capacity-building and networking opportunity for teachers and trainee teachers at the secondary education level. Since its inception, about 1,900 teachers from Asia and Europe have participated in and become members of the ASEF Classroom Network Community.

In 2023, the ASEFClassNet16 School Collaboration tackles the topic “Leading Change: Digital Transformation of Education in the Era of AI”. It is designed to equip participants with basic awareness, competencies, and strategies on Artificial Intelligence & Education (AI&Ed) to improve their pedagogical skills. Topics covered:

  • Understanding both human and technological dimensions of AI in Education
  • Use of AI tools in teaching, issues around pedagogy, privacy, security, and ethics
  • How it works and how to create it, and its social, ethical and human implications

Apply for #ASEFClassNet16 Virtual Training and Capacity Building Stage! 

This Open Call is for participation in the Virtual Training & Capacity Building Stage taking place online between June & September 2023.

This stage includes 3 phases (between June – September 2023):

  1. Self Learning Phase: Participants learn from the expert in the field.
  2. Team Learning Phase: Participants engage in activities where they learn from each other in a peer-to-peer setting and build teams for the next phase.
  3. Action Learning Phase: Based on the training received, participants work in teams to design an Innovative Teaching Practice (ITP) on AI&ED to empower educators and learners in their own education institutions.

Who should apply?

Citizens* of Asian and European countries who are:

  • Teachers, school leaders, and any educators at the secondary, vocational, or high school level;
  • Trainee teachers, who are currently students at a university to become teachers. 

*Asia: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

*Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

What Commitment is Needed?

The ASEFClassNet16 Training and Capacity Building Phase will start in June 2023 and end in early September 2023. Participating teachers need to commit to set aside ca. 2-4 hours per week to participate fully.

Selected participants are expected to:

  • Fully participate in 12 online sessions between June and early September 2023 (est. 24 hours)
  • Design an Innovative Teaching Practice (ITP) with a group of 3-5 teachers (est. 16 hours)
  • Implement the ITP in their home school after the programme (no time estimation).

Participants who successfully complete the Training & Capacity Building Phase will have the opportunity to receive an invitation an onsite conference in October / November 2023 (venue and timing to be released later).
