Signing Ceremony for Memorandum of Understanding (MOU): Partnership between Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the National University of Singapore (NUS)
The Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration was signed by ASEF Executive Director Ambassador Toru MORIKAWA and Dean of the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), Professor TEO Yik-Ying on 14 June 2024, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between ASEF and NUS.
On 14 June 2024, ASEF, acting through its Public Health Network (PHN), funded by the Government of Japan, and the National University of Singapore, acting through its Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), signed the MOU on academic collaboration between the two institutions. The event was witnessed by Guest of Honour, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Singapore, H.E. Mr ISHIKAWA Hiroshi and Singapore Governor of ASEF Professor Leo TAN.
ASEF is delighted to forge a partnership with SSHSPH, NUS, which is a beacon of excellence in Public Health in Singapore. SSHSPH’s pioneering work in public health, with over 1,000 alumni in 32 countries, makes it an invaluable partner for ASEF. This collaboration promises mutual benefits, enhancing our collective efforts in promoting Public Health through the organisation of and participation in joint academic and scientific activities such as workshops, seminars and conferences.
The inaugural event to be organised under this MOU will be the “High-Level Risk Communication Conference”, scheduled for 6 to 7 November 2024. This conference, a joint effort by the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS) of SSHSPH and ASEF PHN, will serve as a crucial platform for experts from Asia and Europe to exchange best practices and lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, and to develop collaborative strategies. We look forward to transformative outcomes coming from this conference.
The strategic partnership with NUS further strengthens ASEF’s efforts to address critical agendas on Public Health Emergencies, such as Risk Communication and Antimicrobial Resistance. By bolstering global health security, our collaboration aims to make a concrete impact across Asia and Europe, fostering a healthier and safer future for all.
