It aims to empower educators, education experts, teacher trainers and education leaders working at higher education institutions (HEIs) or Government Institutions responsible for training and supporting teachers and school leaders at the secondary and vocational education sector by enhancing their understanding of issues related to Artificial Intelligence and education (AI&ED).

ASEFEdu Director, Ms Reka TOZSA, warmly welcomed participants of the ASEFClassNet17 Faculty Collaboration

At the heart of this project is the drive to push the boundaries of educational innovation. Through a timely relevant discussion on the support educators need in the era of AI, the project will inspire its participants to reimagine their ongoing activities in AI&ED. All in all, the key goal is to cultivate a forward-thinking mindset among participating academics, researchers and teacher trainers that approach the possibilities of AI to advance educational innovation critically to ensure inclusive, ethical and safe integration of AI tools in teaching and learning practices.

Peer-to-peer partnership is key to the success of the ASEFClassNet17 Faculty Collaboration project. By encouraging strong partnerships through collaboration among participants, be it at individual or institutional level, through this project we hope to create a robust network of shared knowledge and resources. This collective effort not only amplifies the impact of ASEF’s work in education but also builds a sustainable foundation for future advancements in AI&ED.

Programme Overview:

The ASEFClassNet17 Faculty Collaboration is a 6-month (May-November 2024) exchange and dialogue project for academics and teacher trainers working at higher education institutions (HEIs) or Government Institutions responsible for teacher training. It creates avenues for scholarly discussions and resource creation on the topic of Learning about AI and Learning with AI to support educators at the K-12 level as well as to foster collaboration among Faculties of Education.

The programme of the ASEFClassNet17 Faculty Collaboration consists of 2 key phases:

  • Phase 1 – Virtual Knowledge Building & Dialogue Stage: it includes self-learning opportunities through thematic webinars, individual presentations and initial project proposal development.
  • Phase 2 – Hybrid Implementation & ASEFClassNet17 Conference: includes further development of project proposals and an on-site conference for successful final stage participants (selected through invitation after evaluation) in Manila, Philippines from 11-15 November 2024.

ASEFClassNet17 Faculty Collaboration Participants will design their project proposals under these 4 categories

Founding Background:

The Faculty Collaboration initiative was first introduced as part of the ASEFClassNet16 project in 2023. It was designed considering the significance of connecting teacher trainers and academic experts with teachers. This is a new element of the ASEFClassNet project that aims at strengthening collaboration across Faculties of Education and supporting innovation in teaching and learning at the K-12 level.
