On 11 April 2025, ASEF handed over three ventilators to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Hospital in Southeast Sulawesi, supported by a US$10 million contribution from Japan. This follows the earlier handover of four ventilators to the PMI Hospital in Bogor in 2024. Both handovers fall under ASEF’s two-year project in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which aims to strengthen preparedness and response to COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases by equipping health facilities in ASEF member countries.

ASEF Executive Director Ambassador STOCZYŃSKA attended the official handover ceremony virtually. In her remarks, she stated that “with these life-saving machines and other medical supplies, we are strengthening Indonesia’s capacity to support vulnerable populations.”
