AEEF16 took place on 28-29 November 2019 and was hosted by Bertelsmann Stiftung in Berlin, Germany.
The forum brought together expert speakers and participants from ASEM Partner countries to exchange ideas and elaborate on the theme of “EU-Asia Trade & Investment Connectivity”.
The 2-day forum opened with a Keynote Address by Mr Philip ROSLER, former Federal Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and former Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, that reflected on the challenges and opportunities of EU-Asia relations in times of global disruptions.
Day 1 addressed the theme of Current Drivers of Eu-Asia Connectivity, while Day 2 tackled the EU’s Relation to the United States and China. Each day comprised of 3 closed-door sessions in the form of expert panels, discussing EU-Asia strategies to counter Trump and Brexit, EU-Asia connectivity and the 4th industrial revolution, economic benefits and political concerns related to rising protectionism as well as prospects for EU-US relations, the role of EU-China relations in global multilateralism and the direction of EU-Asia connectivity.
