OVERVIEW

Aimed at addressing critical issues in the development and promotion of independent cinema in both regions, this meeting gathered 20 students from 17 ASEM member countries — it was the first time the meeting had focused on film students.

Through the five-day meeting, participants gained insights on film production in a Euro-Asia context and had their short film projects assessed by 11 prominent film-makers, producers, screenwriters, and critics.

The meeting laid the groundwork for the improvement of the quality and quantity of exchanges and link-ups amongst cinema professionals and for future Asia-Europe film co-productions.
