WHAT IS #ASEFYLS?
The ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS) is a Youth platform that connects young people across Asia & Europe, applying a 360 degree approach on leadership development and community engagement: 1) self-leadership (you), 2) team leadership (we) and 3) societal leadership (all).
The ASEFYLS Capacity Trainings 2026 is a youth leadership programme focusing on ‘Anticipatory Leadership for a Human-Centered Future’, with collaborative programme elements taking place both virtually and physically.
‘Anticipatory Leadership’ is the capacity and habit of using the future to inform the present by analysing trends, exploring a range of future scenarios, and using those insights to question assumptions, adjust leadership style, and take collaborative, adaptive action, that move systems toward more equitable and sustainable futures..

BACKGROUND
WHAT WILL #ASEFYLS2026 LOOK LIKE?
The ASEFYLS2026 programme takes place from June to November 2026 and consists of 3 phases with the aim to give participants the opportunity to learn, to collaborate and to turn theory into action: (1) the Knowledge Building Phase; (2) In-Person Trainings; and (3) the Multiplier Activity Phase.
The Knowledge Building phase takes place in June 2026 and brings together 80 participants for 5 weeks of online training, and invite them to participate in webinars, interactives exercises, and leadership dialogues, fusing theory, training, and policy.

Participants will attend the in-person training either in Manila, Philippines or in Tromsø, Norway.
The In-Person Training in Manila, Philippines will physically bring together 40 participants to engage in people-to-people dialogue exchanges, networking, and learning in a local context. The Training will include the following elements:
- Thematic workshops and panel discussions on Anticipatory Leadership for a Human-Centered Future
- Study Visits, to provide inspiration and case studies to practice what they have learnt
- Cultural exchange, both within the local context, and between participants

The Training is being organised in partnership with and hosted by UiT The Arctic University of Tromsø and the European Youth Capital 2026, “True North – Tromsø 2026”.
The ASEFYLS challenges the participants to demonstrate their leadership – translating the theory into action, where they have to organise multiplier events in their local communities which help to reach larger audiences on the topic of ‘Anticipatory Leadership for a Human-Centered Future’.
