ASEM InfoBoard (AIB) is an ongoing ASEM-initiated special project to offer relevant, up-to-date and publicly accessible information on inter-regional cooperation between and amongst ASEM Partners in Asia and Europe. It serves as a strategic communication platform to enhance the visibility of ASEM and ASEF’s role in this regard.
This year AIB has several alternative ways of creating content for the website to enhance ASEM visibility and its continued relevance for the people and to receive wider participation and support.
ASEF’s most recent publication on “The Future of Asia-Europe Cooperation” is a collection of essays reflecting the views, perspectives and aspirations of Asians and Europeans from ASEM member states. Selected from an essay competition open to people age 25 and above (Category I) and those below 25 years of age (Category II) to commemorate ASEF’s 25th anniversary, these essays are written with an eye on the future.
In line with the forward-looking essays presented in the book, the Roundtable on ‘The Future of Asia-Europe Cooperation’ will convene a panel of four panellists who have been following the developments of ASEM and deeply involved in the study or promotion of Asia-Europe cooperation. DO they discern any differences between the perspectives and hopes of authors from Asia versus those from Europe, and between those from Category I and from Category II? What are some of the ideas in the book that stood out and should be further elaborated? Which areas of collaboration are most cited in the book reflecting how the authors see the future role of ASEM and ASEF? How can barriers of cooperation between Asia and Europe be overcome?
To receive wider participation and support on the AIB, we open for public engagement by adding a new tab at the top of the landing page entitled “Community”. Under this Tab, there will be 3 sub-tabs on Political, Economic and Social, to mirror the 3 pillars of ASEM.
