Having commissioned three research papers — on the state of arts/cultural resources in Asia and Europe, and on technical concerns in the implementation of information portals — the ASEF organised this meeting to gather cultural professionals, policy makers, artists, and networkers to discuss the proposed Culture360 portal’s scope and structure.
This was the first in a series of three meetings dedicated to the development of a multi-disciplinary Asia-Europe cultural portal. The meeting featured presentations from current cultural resource managers and researchers, and aimed to establish what resources exist and what gaps needed to be filled. Participants also debated the sustainability of the proposed Culture360 portal.
At the close of the meeting, the ASEF committed to laying the groundwork to develop Culture360, a portal that would connect cultural communities in Asia and Europe by hosting real-time information, artist directories, useful contacts, and information on funding and grants.
