In the Digital Age, Asia and Europe have a lot to learn from each other. On one side, Europe has first-hand experience in delaing with digital media to share. On the other side, Asia is emerging as an open pool for new media and information-exchange opportunities. By connecting these special characteristics, communication patterns in the two regions can complement and learn from each other. The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) has been instrumental through ASEF in deepening such connections between Asia and Europe. Fortunately, more and more Asian-European media houses are also identifying the need to re-engineer their processes and infrastructure so that they are able to respond more quickly to societies’ demands.

The 7th ASEF Editors’ Roundtable: Asian and European Media in the Digital Agewill gather editors-in-chief from ASEM countries to share how their agencies are experiencing the changing face of the media as well as adapting to it. In addition to providing a learning opportunity, this Roundtable will be a setting to identify possible improved linkages between Asian and European media to conquer new territories and reach out to more consumers in this open and at the same time more and more closely-knit digital world. The Roundtable will take place on 15-17 October 2014 in Milan, Italy, on the sidelines of the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit.

The event is co-organised with the German Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in cooperation with the Institute for International Political Studies, and is supported by World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and Chatham House.
