With the evolution of social, cultural and technological landscapes, Asia and Europe are more connected than ever. This connectivity creates a great impact on people-to-people communication across the two regions. The emergence of digital media has led to rapid changes in the media and communications ecosystem. Online newspapers, blogs and social media have changed how news is produced and consumed. At the same time mobile and tablet communications have introduced a dramatic shift in news distribution.

Both Asia and Europe are facing this media climate change. However the nature and extent varies in the two regions. The 7th ASEF Editors’ Roundtable: Asian and European Media in the Digital Age will bring together editors-in-chief/publishers/senior media commentators from leading Asia-Europe media agencies. Through the sessions during the Roundtable, the participants will exchange their experience in dealing with the digital wave. They will not only share their best practices and challenges but also explore possible synergies between the media across the regions.

The Roundtable will be organised on 15-17 October in Milan, Italy on the side-lines of the 10th ASEM Summit. The event is co-organised with the German Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in cooperation with the Institute for International Political Studies, and is supported by World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and Chatham House.
