Venue: has launched a new call for proposals for media partnerships in 2020.

We invite applications from interested arts organisations that would like to showcase their upcoming events (such as arts conferences, festivals, workshops) on our arts portal through a media partnership with us. We offer a wide outreach & visibility for your event among the arts communities in Asia and Europe.

As part of our mandate, we are keen to give visibility to innovative arts events from under-represented or less-visible countries, regions & artistic disciplines projects. We hope to do this through media partnerships with interesting arts events in Asia and Europe. Since 2012, we have offered over 28 media partnerships to key events in both regions. We would like to continue supporting more such initiatives through this competitive open call process.

What type of events do we support?

The media partnership with is for arts events ONLY. They may take various forms: conferences, festivals, workshops etc. Events must be cultural in nature (see mor details below). Events must take place in any of the 51 countries of Asia and Europe that are members of ASEM and ASEF.

What areas of the arts & culture?

We are particularly interested in events that focus on:  

  • Digital: issues, trends, challenges
  • Interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral events that connect arts & culture with sustainable development, human rights, public health, science & technology etc.
  • Events that are collaborations between Asians and Europeans

What geographical areas?

All events taking place in ASEM member countries are welcome to apply. Special attention will be given to countries/regions that are less visible within Asia and Europe.

What can we offer as media partner will promote the selected arts event through the following communication activities:

  • Articles/Interviews with the organisers, participants or speakers published on our website
  • Announcement of the selected event in our monthly e-newsletter
  • Promotion on social media channels
  • Event post on website

What do we seek in exchange?

  • acknowledged as media partner in all printed and digital collaterals of the event
  • Possibility to set-up an information booth about during the event
  • Possibility to present ASEF‘s work in culture at the event
  • Dissemination of ASEF publications and brochures at the event
  • Dissemination of survey on Asia-Europe collaboration among participants at the event

Who should apply?

Arts organisations, cultural networks & government agencies that are organisers or co-organisers of arts events may apply. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

How to apply?

  • Deadline for submission of proposals: 15 August 2020
  • Proposals should refer to events taking place between 1 September and 31 December 2020



  • A Media Partership Agreement will be signed between and each selected arts event, listing roles and responsabilities on both sides.
  • The partnership does not include any financial grant.

Seven events have been selected in the second half of 2020 in the Czeck Republic, the Netherlands, India, Philippines, Romania, Slovakia and Thailand. As media partner, will promote the selected events with articles, interviews and event posts on the website, social media channels and monthly newsletters.

    1. Tangible Utopias 
    Where: Bucharest, Romania and online 
    When: 8 November 2020
    Launch of a VR game experience designed collaboratively by 10 children around the world from diverse social and cultural environments.

    2. The East Europe Biennal Alliance Meeting
    Where: Prague, Czeck Republic
    When: 18-19 September 2020
    A two-day event with a focus on the periphery-center tension in relation to contemporary art biennales and other critical cultural institutions in Eastern Europe.

    3. PCI Symposium 2020: Conversations on Curation and Performance in the Time of Halting and Transformation
    Where: Manila, Philippines and online
    When: 5-10 October 2020
    A week-long conversation on curation and performance, focusing on the role of the curators in reimagining performance in the time of the pandemic.

    4. Art & Tech Conference
    Where: Kosice, Slovakia and online 
    When: 26 November 2020
    An Art & Tech Conference focusing on presenting the foremost ideas which combine the art and technology spheres.

    5. VR Days Europe - New Horizons
    Where: Amsterdam, Netherlands and online
    When: 4-6 November 2020
    A series of keynote speeches, workshops, expert sessions and exhibition of VR works and companies that provides for inspiration and knowledge sharing opportunities.

    6. ThinkArts International Forum on Arts for Children & Young People
    Where: Kolkata, India, online 
    When: 8-10 October 2020
    An online forum to address the concerns and practice of various stakeholders such as artists, cultural institutions, educators, museums, performance venues, arts funding bodies and parents in the field of arts engagement for children and youth.

    7. Pathumwan Art Routes (PARs Project)
    Where: Bangkok, Thailand and online
    When: August to December 2020
    A collaborative project between art and culture institutions and local communities in central Bangkok Pathumwan district.

  • As part of our media partnership with Ulaanbaatar International Media Art Festival (UBIMAF)  we have interviewed Ms. Odgerel Odonchimed, Director Arts Council Mongolia to know more about the 5th virtual edition of the festival.

  • 8 New media partnerships in 2020

    Published on 25 Feb 2020 is pleased to announce the events selected through the open call for proposals for Media Partnerships published at the beginning of this year. 8 events have been selected in the first half of 2020 in Singapore, Indonesia, India, the Netherlands, Italy, Russian Federation and Mongolia. As media partner, will promote the selected events with articles, interviews and event posts on the website, through social media channels and monthly newsletters.

    Where: Mumbai, India
    When: 6-7 February 2020
    A conference on arts management that will bring together sector leaders and stakeholders to build a dialogue for the growth and future of the culture sector in India.

    2. Other Futures
    Where: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
    When: 10-12 April 2020
    A multidisciplinary festival and exhibition that presents speculative visions of the future taking place once in 2 years.

    3. Golden Ger International Film Festival 2020
    Where: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
    When: 4-7 June 2020
    A film festival that provides a platform for aspiring young filmmakers to challenge themselves and aims to establish a creative filmmaking scene in Mongolia.

    4. CROSS Festival 2020
    Where: Verbania, Italy
    When: 5-28 June 2020
    A contemporary dance and performing arts festival with a focus on Asia in this year's edition.

    5. Art-platform for development and promotion of Ural contemporary art
    Where: Ekaterinburg, Russian Federation 
    When: May 2020
    A workshop and online platform to develop art writing and critical thinking about contemporary visual art in the Ural region.

    6. Asian Festival, Connect Europe
    Where: Sukoharjo, Indonesia
    When: 25 July 2020
    A contemporary dance festival that aims at stimulating creativity through interaction with the local environment.

    7. Ulaanbaatar International Media Art Festival
    Where: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
    When: 6 June 2020
    A new media and digital arts festival which includes performances, installations and workshops.

    8. M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival

    An artist-led contemporary dance festival with an attitude of openness where every individual's point of view is valued.

    1. Widening Circles: Pickle Factory Season 2 
    Where: Kolkata, India

    A international dance festival including arts education and community outreach activities in various venues across Kolkata, India.

    2. TodaysArt 2019 
    Where: The Hague, Netherlands
    When: 19-21 September 2019
    Netherland’s longest running international festival for art, music and technology, with audiovisual performances, installations, live electronic music, talks and panel discussions.

    3. Asia Peace Film Festival
    Where: Lahore, Pakistan
    When: Last week of September 2019
    The 3rd edition of the Asia Peace Film Festival (APFF) will commemorate this year's International Peace Day by celebrating the historic city of Lahore.

    The 5 events selected will take place between February and June 2019, covering a variety of topics and formats, in India, Finland, Spain, United Kingdom and Germany.

    1. EARS on Helsinki 2019 
    Where: Helsinki, Finland
    When: 14-15 February 2019
    A multidisciplinary creative industry conference fostering connections between Asia and Europe

    2. Spain Moving Images Festival 2019
    Where: Madrid, Spain
    When: June 2019
    A film festival focusing on Asian filmmakers with a platform for dialogue between Asia and Spain.

    3. TEH Conference 87: pARTicipation through cultural reflections
    Where: Dresden, Germany
    When: 16-19 May 2019
    A conference to exchange artistic strategies and working methods among arts professionals towards a higher participation in social processes.

    4. UnBox Festival
    Where: Bangalore, India
    When: 15-17 February 2019
    A festival that brings together various disciplines, formats and experiences with the idea of connecting local and international networks for collaboration and open dialogue.

    5. XTRAX/Stockton International Riverside Festival 2019 Showcase 
    Where: Stockton-on-Tees, UK
    When: 1-4 August 2019
    A series of interdisciplinary outdoor theatre performances and networking events to connect arts professionals and create new collaborations. This year XTRAX will happen along the Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF).

  •  2018 media partnership results is pleased to announce the events selected from the open call for proposals for Media Partnerships.

    The 3 events selected will take place between October and November 2018, in countries that are less visible and often under-represented within Asia and Europe. As part of its mandate, is keen to support activities that do not always receive enough visibility beyond the national or regional context. 

    The selected events for 2018 are:

    1. International Archaeology Day Celebrations 
    Where: Islamabad, Pakistan
    When: 22 October 2018
    A celebration of Pakistan's cultural heritage through a series of lectures, guided tours and interactive hands-on workshops open to the public.

    2. Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival 
    Where: Nicosia, Cyprus
    When: 1-4 November 2018
    An innovative and experimental performing arts festival that explores artists' socio-political narratives in an ever-changing world.

    3. Central Asian Forum on cultural policies and management
    Where: Almaty, Kazakhstan
    When: 27-28 November 2018
    A Forum to discuss art management, cultural industries and cultural policies trends with a focus on central Asian countries
