Asia-Europe Youth Co-operation (AEYC): 3rd Meeting Of The Working Group

Project Period: Contact: Department: Programme: Theme:
17 Apr 02 - 19 Apr 02 Asia-Europe Foundation Education Department Asia-Europe Youth Co-operation Education

Shah Alam (Malaysia)

This meeting brought together representatives from 12 youth organisations at the international, regional, and national level, to review and discuss future steps and tangible projects for the year.

The meeting consolidated the steadily-growing youth network that, at that time, held the membership of 72 youth and youth-serving organisations from Asia and Europe. The network had also organised 10 projects following its inception at the Asia-Europe Youth Forum held in Brussels in May 2000.

The AEYC Working Group -- comprising core members from six founding international and regional youth platforms, and members from six international and national youth organisations -- discussed and endorsed specific projects for 2002. One of the planned projects was the Asia-Europe Youth Festival, a series of events to be held in Denmark in September 2002 to coincide with the ASEM4 Summit and the 4th Asia-Europe Youth Camp.

Other projects endorsed by the AEYC Working Group included the Asia-Europe Training For Trainers and the Asia-Europe Training Course For Youth Leaders 2002, as well as initiatives to promote information and resource exchange between youth organisations in the AEYC, such as the Asia-Europe Volunteers Exchange 2002.
