The publication “Tomorrow’s Leaders: Bridging Asia and Europe” compiles lectures and discussions of the 1st ASEF Young Parliamentarians Meeting, held in Mactan Island, Cebu, the Philippines, from 13th to 16th November 2008. The publication gives a thorough analysis of three main topics:
- Good Governance: Challenges and Responsibilities in a Globalising World
- Options and Concepts for a Closer Co-operation in Political and Economic Crisis Management
- Confrontation or Constructive Engagement: The Case of Myanmar.
Papers dealing with the topic “Good Governance” address the ongoing debate on the ideological principals of Good Governance, specifically that of universal human rights. The second part of essays highlights the many challenges that individual nations and the regional and global community face in an age of rapid globalisation such as economic and financial crisis management. The third part of articles revolve around the re-evaluation and re-assessment of the approaches and motives behind the policies towards Myanmar. Readership: Students, academics and policy-makers in the field of international relations.
