This DVD is a post event publication of Focus on Asia which was the highlight of the 27th International Women Film Festival in partnership with the Asia-Europe Foundation. The film festival was held from 11th to 20th March, 2005 in Creteil, France, where eleven women film makers from Asia presented their films and took part in meetings and roundtables. The DVD includes extracts of `Lessons of Cinema’ and interviews with each of the eleven film makers with regard to influences in term of narrative and aesthetics, how did they start behind the camera and their positions as women and filmmakers. Also included is an interview with Jackie Buet, Director of the Creteil Women Film Festival, who developed the concept of `Lessons of Cinema’, with the aim of promoting the work of women filmmakers and documenting their selections in Creteil.
