Ms Sandra MATEUS is a sociologist, researcher in the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES, ISCTE-IUL) since 1999, working mainly in integration, ethnicity, education, social economy and Public Understanding of Science, with various publications. She was an invited professor in the “Education and Society” Master, in ISCTE - Lisbon University Institute (2007/2008); and a member of the teaching staff of Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon (FLUL) (2005). She worked in the national coordination of Programa Escolhas (“Choices Programme”), a Portuguese Government social inclusion programme aimed at children and young people coming from the most disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds (2006/2008); and coordinated the Workgroup for the Inclusion of Immigrant Descendants, supported by ACIDI – High-Commission for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (2006/2008).
