Pedro Miguel Resende | Portugal | Winner of the ASEM award

 "Postcards from Lisbon"

Pedro Miguel Resende is a Portuguese Filmmaker, born and raised in Lisbon. He started his career working in public relations and strategic communication until he discovered himself as a storyteller. He travelled extensively across Europe, worked in Ljubljana and Berlin. Currently he spends most of his time between Austin and Lisbon developing scripts and projects that he believes are worth telling. Through his film for the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest, he shared a story about his city, Lisbon. It is expressed from an outsider’s perspective who is seeing and experiencing it. However his film is not just about a Mongolian young struggling migrant living in Lisbon but about all those migrants who travel places with complete different cultures, facing the fears, hopes, dreams and all the awe that comes with it. http://www.maybe-short.com/

Ibtisem Ben Nassib | Malaysia

"Colours"

Ibtisem Ben Nassib fell in love with the art of film making very recently. She is not afraid of taking risks and loves living it to the fullest. Life is an adventure for her. She was born in Malaysia and grew up in France. Therefore it was easy for her to relate to the theme of the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest. She truly believes Asians and Europeans are always connected. And this bonding will strengthen with time. Through her film for the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest, she tried to take her audience on a journey from day to night. Her film is about humanity and love which can unite all different beings in one thread. http://www.youtube.com/ibtisemusic

Riyanto Lesmana | Indonesia

"Our Dragon in Valborg"

Riyanto Lasmana is a fresh graduate from the Department of International Relations, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. He is passionate about public diplomacy, conflict resolution and new media. His short film idea for the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest emerged while compiling some video footage and pictures for his Facebook friends from Uppsala, Sweden. He met them during the exchange program at Uppsala University. They encouraged Riyanto to submit this video to share the spirit of their friendship with a broader audience. Travelling different destinations including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and South East Asian countries, Riyanto has always witnessed people share common values. He tried to communicate that common thread of sharing through his language of film. http://www.youtube.com/user/masdedexs

Lorenzo Ciani | Italy

"Food: a way to integration. Short Documentary"

Lorenzo Ciani is an Italian. Two years ago he started making small videos for his YouTube channel:  “GHH PRODUCTION”. In 2010, living in Japan and learning about the Japanese culture, made a great impact in his life. So the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest was an opportunity for him to showcase that experience. Before making films, Lorenzo worked for restaurants in Italy. That helped him meet people from different corners of the world who visited Florence for Italian cuisine. This was also his inspiration behind selecting ‘food’ as the theme of his film. http://www.youtube.com/user/GHHPRODUCTION

david saputro sugianto as film directorDavid Saputro Sugianto | Indonesia

"OTW"

David Saputro Sugianto from Indonesia is an “OTW” film director.  He has studied Information Systems in Duta Wacana Christian University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Currently he is working as a crew member in the University`s PPTPM (Pusat Pengembangan Teknologi Pengajaran dan Multimedia) unit. He has used stop-motion technic to produce his film for the Asia-Europe Short Films Contest. As a filmmaker, he thinks, ‘Asia-Europe connections’ is a very rich topic in itself. Cultures, people, places and economic relationships - which can be beautifully weaved through a collage of audio-visuals.
