Ms Julia BAYER studied social and cultural anthropology and intercultural communication in Munich and Singapore. She is a lecturer at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology in Munich, specialised in visual and media anthropology. Her main research interests are questions of hegemonic perspective and structural bias through representation in media and documentary filmmaking. In cooperation with the Goethe Institute, Deutsche Welle Academy and other training centres she is active as media diversity trainer, holding workshops that bring together young journalists from different countries and backgrounds. Currently she is working on her dissertation on media diversity and its dynamics in anthropology and journalism.
