The Virtual Phase of the ASEFClassNet17 School Collaboration Project has concluded with a remarkable showcase of ingenuity, with participants presenting 50 Innovative Teaching Practices (ITP). The ASEFClassNet17 School Collaboration brought together educators from diverse backgrounds to share and develop cutting-edge pedagogical ideas to enhance and improve teaching and learning practices across secondary and vocational schools in Asia and Europe.
Fostering Teamwork, Peer-to-Peer Learning and Cross-Cultural Collaboration
ASEFClassNet has always been a platform for fostering cross-cultural collaboration among teachers. This year, the project saw participants from over 35 countries working together to address common educational challenges related to AI and Education (AI&ED) and to harness the power of collective creativity. Through virtual meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions, educators exchanged ideas and experiences, laying the groundwork for a more interconnected and innovative teaching community.
Emphasising Creativity and Innovation
The 50 ITPs designed by the participants emphasize creativity and innovation in education. These practices range from integrating technology in the classroom to incorporating experiential learning and promoting critical thinking. Each practice is a testament to the participants’ commitment to enhancing the learning experience and making education more engaging and relevant for students.
Impact on Educators and Students
The innovative practices developed through ASEFClassNet17 are set to have a profound impact on both educators and students. Teachers gain new tools and methods to enhance their teaching, while students benefit from more engaging and effective learning experiences. The collaborative nature of the project also helps educators build a supportive network, encouraging ongoing professional development and the sharing of best practices.
Future Prospects
The ASEFClassNet17 School Collaboration Project has demonstrated the power of collaboration and innovation in education. By designing 50 innovative teaching practices, participants have taken significant strides towards transforming classrooms and enriching the educational landscape. As the Virtual Phase of the ASEFClassNet17 School Collaboration project concludes, the focus shifts to the implementation of these innovative practices. Participants are committed to integrating these strategies into their curricula and sharing their successes with the wider educational community beyond the ASEFClassNet. The long-term vision of these ITPs is to inspire the effective, safe, relevant and ethical use of AI in teaching and learning settings.
Background of the ASEFClassNet Project & ASEFClassNet17
The ASEFClassNet17 School Collaboration is a capacity-building project for teachers and trainee teachers at the secondary education level. It aims to enhance teaching & learning environments in secondary, high, and vocational schools across Asia and Europe on the topic of “Learning about AI and Learning with AI”. For over two decades, the ASEF Classroom Network has been providing capacity-building opportunities for collaborative teaching and learning and a platform to explore the potential of cutting-edge EdTech tools and the integration of ESD in secondary, high, and vocational schools in Asia and Europe. Its target group is broad, given its intergenerational & multi-stakeholder outreach. It ranges from students, teachers, school leaders, teacher trainers, researchers, policymakers, and to EdTech experts. Since its inception, more than 2,100 teachers from Asia and Europe have participated in various activities and become members of the ASEF Classroom Network. As a result, more than 35,000 students have been engaged in 430 Asia-Europe School Collaborations and local spin-off activities.
