The Closing Curtain of the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival 6th edition will take place in Singapore on 27 – 29 September 2024.
In partnership with Dance Nucleus and Asian Film Archive, ASEF Culture will present 3 dance events and one film screening with artists from Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore.
Closing Curtain highlights:
Pyo Chit Lin (My Darling), a restored silent film, is one of the very few Myanmar classics still in existence and is the country’s earliest surviving colour film from 1950. The film will be showcased with live music composed by Malaysian artist Kent Lee using various mediums of music.
WRECK – List of Extinct Species is an interdisciplinary performance mixing movement, sound and visual art circling around the metaphor of a shipwreck to be presented by Italian artist Pietro Marullo together with 5 artists from Singapore.
Last Portrait, a performance-installation developed as result of the collaboration between artists Ashley Ho (Singapore), Domenik Naue (Germany) and Pietro Marullo (Italy), questions how documentary matter from seemingly separate narratives can meet, to facilitate a generative and healing space through performance.
VECTOR#5 – Psychogeographies, an exhibition of contemporary performance and time-based art, whose presentations can be described as psychological speculations on the effects of geography and the environment on the human psyche.
The Asia-Europe Cultural Festival’s is dedicated to fostering cultural dialogue, innovation, and artistic collaboration between Asia and Europe. The Closing Curtain in Singapore will be the last event for 2024, presented in partnership with Dance Nucleus and the Asian Film Archive.
