On 11 March 2025, the preliminary findings of the upcoming Asia-Europe Science & Technology Diplomacy Report were presented at the Conference on ‘Navigating the Intersection of Cooperation and Competition Science Diplomacy in Romania and Hungary’, by Ms Linnea REGNELL, Project Executive, Education Department.
The 1-day hybrid conference was hosted by Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania and, under the title of ‘Navigating the Intersection of Cooperation and Competition Science Diplomacy in Romania and Hungary’, it explored different approaches to Science Diplomacy, covering topics such as ‘Challenges in building up the European Framework of science diplomacy’ where the latest European Framework for Science Diplomacy was discussed, and other topics such as Geopolitics and Linguistic considerations in Science Diplomacy. The conference was attended by 35+ representatives of Science Diplomacy Stakeholders, students and higher education professionals from Hungary and Romania, and brought together speakers from both Asia and Europe.

During her panel, Linnea presented the initial findings from the Asia-Europe Science & Technology Diplomacy Report, mapping the strategies, priorities, policy tools, and performance across 40+ ASEF member countries across Asia and Europe. With her on the panel were PÖRZSE Gábor from the Central European Scientific Society of Innovation and Technology (CESSIT) who shared his perspective on ‘Innovation Horizons’, and ÉRMEZEI Lili, Former Vice Rector for Strategy and Development, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, who gave a presentation on ‘Inside Nordic Startups: Leadership Traits That Fuel Growth’. We thank Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania for the invitation and for the opportunity to share the findings from our Report and to meet with likeminded professionals to discuss the state of Science Diplomacy in the region.
