The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) presents this publication featuring a collection of real-world case studies that showcase how technology can be applied to address pressing societal challenges across Asia and Europe. Moving beyond theory, the report highlights practical, on-the-ground solutions that bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, demonstrating how ideas can be translated into meaningful impact.
Drawing on diverse contexts and sectors, the 40 case studies from Asia and Europe explore how digital tools, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches are being used to tackle issues such as access to healthcare services, sustainable waste management, and the future of agriculture. Each case illustrates not only the potential of technology, but also the importance of local adaptation, cross-sector collaboration, and human-centred innovation.
This publication is part of the 6th ASEF Young Leaders Summit, a platform that connects young people from Asia and Europe to collaborate, exchange perspectives, and co-create solutions to global challenges. Through its interdisciplinary and intercultural approach, ASEFYLS6 supports participants in developing leadership competencies, strengthening their capacity to navigate complexity, and building networks that extend beyond the programme.
The report was published on 27 March 2026 and will be officially launched during the webinar ‘Beyond Society 5.0″ Anticipating the Next Stage of Youth Leadership’ on Thursday, 9 April. You can learn more about the event and register to join here.
