Building on the last three years of the ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS), which explored leadership in the context of Society 5.0, this webinar marked a transition towards the next frontier: anticipatory leadership for a human-centred future.
The webinar also launched ASEF’s latest publication, featuring real-world case studies on how technology is being applied to address societal challenges—bridging the gap between ideas and action. This publication is part of the 6th ASEF Young Leaders Summit project, which aims at creating people-to-people connections for youth in Asia and Europe, and which explores technological advancements and their usage in solving societal challenges. You may read the full publication here.
Joined by our alumni Ms Zivile EINIKYTE (Lithuania), Creator & Podcaster, Perception Paradox, and Mr Shabil Syach (Jau) PACHLEFI (Indonesia), Business & Affiliate Lead, ASEAN Youth Organization, we reflected on the past couple of years and looked ahead to see what comes next in the realm of youth leadership in the context of the evolving role of youth in navigating uncertainty and complexity.
We then invited experts in futures thinking and foresight, Mr Carsten BECK, Director and Futurist at Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS), and Dr Lizan E PERANTE-CALINA, Senior Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School of Public Management, Development Academy of the Philippines and President of Philippines Futures Thinking Society, to discuss with Zivile and Jau – where they shared with our audience what it means to lead with a future-oriented mindset, and how young people can actively shape more inclusive and sustainable futures.
The session took place on 9 April 2026 and looked back at the success of the past three years of the ASEF Young Leaders Summit, shared about the newest publication on using technology in solving societal challenges, and gathered from alumni and experts to their views on what is the next stage of youth leadership: Anticipatory Leadership for a Human-Centred Future’.
