We were honoured to partner with the UNDP Movers Programme to deliver the ASEF-Movers Workshop Series: Empowering Youth Leadership Across Asia and Europe. This collaborative initiative was held from 21 July to 22 August 2025 and brought together hundreds of young people from across Asia and Europe to build skills in leadership, sustainability, and intercultural dialogue.

YOUTH-LED PEER-TO-PEER LEARNING AT THE CORE

The ASEF-Movers Workshop Series equipped participants aged 18–30 with essential 21st-century skills while fostering meaningful connections across borders. In line with the peer-to-peer approach central to the Movers Programme and our work at ASEF, the workshops provided a youth-led platform where participants learned together through interactive methods and intercultural dialogue.

The programme featured five workshops that explored a range of themes:

  • Leadership in action and well-being
  • Storytelling and personal branding
  • Climate action and sustainability (SDG 13)
  • Green jobs and just transition
  • Global citizenship and systems thinking

Each session was delivered by trained Movers facilitators with the support of guest speakers who shared their expertise and real-world experiences.

SHARED VISION FOR YOUTH LEADERSHIP IN SUSTAINABILITY

The collaboration between ASEF and the Movers Programme built on ASEF’s commitment to supporting youth leadership and intercultural learning through creative, action-oriented formats. Likewise, the UNDP-initiated Movers Programme has already empowered more than 50,000 young changemakers across Asia-Pacific to drive grassroots action on the SDGs.

Through this partnership, ASEF and UNDP created a new platform that enabled young participants to not only gain leadership and communication skills but also to connect across cultures and co-develop ideas for a more sustainable and inclusive future.
