Background
What is ASEFNextEd?
Building on the Faculty Collaboration track of the ASEFClassNet programme, ASEFNextEd is an Asia–Europe educational leadership fellowship designed to foster cross-regional dialogue and co-creation. Through collaborative whitepapers, Fellows will engage with key challenges shaping teacher education and contribute to policy-relevant insights. Theme of ASEFNextEd1
The first edition focuses on Re-thinking Intelligence: The Future of Teacher Education”. It explores how teacher education must evolve in a world where intelligence is increasingly distributed across humans, technologies, and systems, and where AI, digitalisation, and sustainability transitions are reshaping professional judgement, agency, and responsibility.
Key Outcome of ASEFNextEd1 Fellowship
If invited and selected, as a Fellow, you will work in a cross-regional team to co-develop an evidence-informed Whitepaper addressing key dimensions of “Re-thinking Intelligence: The Future of Teacher Education”, including but not limited to:
- Human-centred intelligence and professional judgement
- Evolving roles of teachers and teacher educators in AI-supported learning environments
- Ethics, agency, and professional responsibility in data-driven education systems
- Wellbeing, sustainability, and the green transition in education
- Cultural and contextual perspectives on intelligence across Asia and Europe.
Responsibilities & Commitments
If selected, you will be part of an Asia-Europe team guided by a Fellowship Leader and will:
- Contribute actively to peer-learning and dialogue sessions
- Collaborate with your team to co-develop a Whitepaper
- Engage in research, discussion, and writing
- Participate in peer feedback exchanges
- Contribute to presentation and dissemination of outputs
Participants will collaborate in teams of 5-6.
