What is #ASEFClassNet?
For over two decades, the ASEF Classroom Network (#ASEFClassNet) has been providing capacity-building opportunities for collaborative teaching and learning and a platform to explore the potential of cutting-edge EdTech tools and the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in secondary, high, and vocational schools in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Partner countries. Its target group is broad, given its intergenerational & multi-stakeholder outreach. It ranges from students, teachers, school leaders, teacher trainers, researchers, policymakers, and to EdTech experts. Since its inception, about 1,900 teachers from all 51 ASEM Partner countries have participated in and become members of the ASEF Classroom Network. As a result, about 35,000 students have been engaged in over 430 Asia-Europe School Collaborations and local spin-off activities.
2nd ASEF Classroom Network Conference (#ASEFClassNet02)
The 2nd ASEF Classroom Network Conference with the theme “The Role of Educational Co-operation in the Strengthening the Foundations of the Asia-Europe Partnership in the 21st Century”, took place from 11-14 September 2022 in Tampere, Finland.
In partnership with the National Board of Education, Finland, and the Education Committee of the City of Tampere, this 4-day conference brought together a total of 55 high school teachers and educators from 16 countries in Asia and Europe to initiate and/or participate in collaborative ICT projects.
Building on good practice in Asia and Europe, participants reflected on the new opportunities for co-operation as a result of advancing technology during plenary sessions, working groups and interactive presentations. Participants then saw how some of these practices had been adopted during their visit to a local school and the National Centre for Professional Development in Education.
During the conference, plans for the coordination of 9 new, and 3 existing, School Collaborations were finalised by the ASEF ClassNet teachers. Furthermore, the inaugural ASEF ClassNet Awards were presented to the most outstanding ASEF ClassNet Online Collaborations of the previous year in recognition of their efforts to facilitate better intercultural understanding and use of ICT in education. These 3 winning groups were:
• Cultural Fusion
• The 1st Asia-Europe Classroom Meeting Point
• Halo-Halo to Mooncake
