The food sector is an essential service that needs to be maintained during a pandemic outbreak. Due to its complex supply chain structure and the large number of actors involved, this sector is very vulnerable to disruptions. To strengthen the food sector’s pandemic preparedness and response strategies, the ASEF Public Health Network organised a Strategy Development Workshop on Pandemic Preparedness and Response for Food Supply Security. This report is a working document, presenting the results of the workshop. It contains the proceedings of the workshop and includes proposals for action on 8 themes: local preparedness, policy for risk mitigation, education, network/collaboration, risk communications strategies, sharing resources, involving private sector in public policy decision making, and cooperation between blocs and countries. These recommendations can be of interest to actors in the food industry, as well as representatives from governments, relevant international organisations and NGOs.
