ASEF in partnership with Motovila Institute, is co-organising the fourth edition of ASEF LinkUp | Asia-Europe Cultural Diplomacy Lab, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 23 to 27 November 2026. This year’s edition is developed in close cooperation with Slovenian partners, including the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Slovenia, Ministry of Culture of Slovenia, and Center Rog.

What is ASEF LinkUp?

Introduced in 2023, the ASEF LinkUp | Asia-Europe Cultural Diplomacy Lab is a unique meeting ground for cultural professionals, practitioners, policymakers and institutional representatives to listen, share and learn alongside one another, with the ultimate aim of reimagining Asia-Europe cultural relations for today’s realities.

ASEF LinkUp 2026

In its fourth edition, ASEF LinkUp will gather an interdisciplinary cohort of 20 arts and government sector participants from the 51 ASEM partner countries, wishing to understand more about Sustainability, Ethics and Equity in International Cultural Relations.

ASEF LinkUp 2026 asks: how do we evolve towards more reciprocal, equitable and co-created forms of engagement? Who sets the terms, and who has access? How do smaller states define and practice cultural cooperation in their own contexts?

This year’s programme unfolds across three phases from October 2026 to February 2027, comprising online pre-sessions, an in-person Lab and the ASEF LinkUp Fieldbook, Futures and Connections Phase.
