The Anti-Fragile Classroom: Beyond the Black Swan: Reclaiming Agency in the Age of AI
The Anti-Fragile Classroom: Reclaiming Agency in the Age of AI” equips educators to transform technological disruption into deeper learning opportunities. Over four modules, participants master strategies to resist “cognitive surrender,” where students abdicate intellectual work to algorithms. Week one is an introductory session. Week two focuses on engineering “instructional friction” to preserve the “productive struggle” essential for deep learning. In week three, teachers develop “algorithmic citizenship,” learning to interrogate opaque “black box” systems for cultural biases and misalignment. Week four implements “Deep Idea Integration” (DII), a protocol requiring students to contribute original thoughts at every interaction to sustain human agency. Finally, week five explores “dynamic scaffolding” and “fading,” allowing educators to systematically withdraw AI support as student competence grows and ends with a reflection. Ultimately, participants become agentic “pedagogical directors,” using prompt-based learning to ensure humans lead every inquiry while aligning with ACARA V9.
This course, titled “The Anti-Fragile Classroom: Beyond the Black Swan: Reclaiming Agency in the Age of AI,” is a four-week course of 90 minutes per session, designed to transform the challenge of Artificial Intelligence into a catalyst for deeper human learning. Anti-fragility in education means creating lessons that don’t just withstand AI-driven disruption but actively improve as students learn to navigate, critique, and lead technological systems, moving beyond resilience.
Goals
The goals are to:
- empower teachers to sustain student agency through Deep Idea Integration, ensuring humans lead every inquiry
- master engineering intentional instructional friction to preserve productive struggle and prevent passive student cognitive surrender.
- cultivate algorithmic citizenship by training educators to critically interrogate AI systems and lead ethical interventions.

When?
The “Anti-Fragile Classroom: Beyond the Black Swan: Reclaiming Agency in the Age of AI” will run over span of 5 weeks, every Thursdays from 22 October to 19 November 2026 (between 60 to 120 mins) via Google Meet. The session will take place on the following:
