Capacity-Building on Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence

Capacity-Building on Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence

Share:

The Informal Asia–Europe Meeting (ASEM) Seminar on Human Rights provides a platform for fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between Asia and Europe through open and inclusive political dialogue, with a particular focus on human rights. It brings together civil society representatives and government officials from across ASEM Partners in a non-confrontational exchange.

Since 2017, the Seminar has been complemented by an annual capacity-building training aimed at strengthening human rights knowledge and skills across ASEM countries. Aligned with the Seminar’s annual theme, the training supports deeper engagement with key human rights challenges.

As part of the 23rd Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights, the ASEMHRS training in 2026 will focus on Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence. Building on the Seminar’s outcomes, the training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the relationship between AI and human rights and to strengthen their practical capacity to assess, govern, and deploy AI systems in line with human rights principles.
